Story, Setting, and Characters

Set in a dark, eerie environment, Limbo puts you in the shoes of a young boy who is trying to find his sister in a world that hangs between life and death. The boy comes across a number of monsters and even humans, who are either trying to kill him or run away from him. The world is all black and white filled with unexpected traps and monsters waiting to hunt you down from the shadows.

Limbo Game Features

The game features a slew of physics-based puzzles that require you to think out of the box as failure only results in the death of the boy. Using elements like gravity, magnetism, and even machines, Limbo creates traps that are hard to overcome. However, there are checkpoints in the world that the player can get to and start from whenever he dies.

As you progress through these puzzles, you also come across a number of unique monsters that are super brutal and some even dismember the boy’s body with gore-filled animations. From beheading to cutting his body parts out, these animations can be quite dark. However, they can be skipped on some platforms. And while the game doesn’t limit the number of tries, there are achievements you can unlock with fewer tries.

Limbo is considered one of the best puzzle platformers by a majority of the players with highly positive reviews. Metacritic has given Limbo a Metascore of 88 with a user rating of 8.1 out of 10.

Many reviewers paint Limbo as this new innovative puzzle platformer that is both eerie and exciting at the same time presenting players with challenging problems. Originally released for Xbox 360, the game is available for most major gaming platforms including Windows, requiring up to 150 MB to Install.
