Game description

Story, Settings, Character

You’re Hawke, a refugee seeking to escape the darkspawn-plagued land of Ferelden and become Champion of Kirkwall. Rise to power and fight epic battles while making decisions that determine the course of civilization. Your pursuit of power begins now. How will you seal your place in history?

Features

Cinematic storytelling — Experience a decade's worth of battles and intrigue thanks to a nonlinear narrative that keeps the action coming. A redesigned dialogue system gives more context to your decisions and helps players create a fully realized, multi-dimensional character.

Customize your fight — Dozens of spells and 3 battle companions give players endless options. Stay in the moment with fast-paced combat, or pause the battle and make every move count by issuing individual orders.

Make bigger moves — Your actions carry greater weight than ever, and you'll need to think long-term because you have an entire decade to reach your goal. Every dialogue and battle decision affects your standing with party members. Maximizing your friendship opens up even more options.

Review

The player, who rated the game with the highest rank, says, “I held off playing this game for a long time due to folks saying how "bad" it is and that was the wrong choice. I LOVE this series and I like to look at this game and think, "Wow, the team had so much pressure for 18 months of production I think I can forgive them for reusing assets multiple times." At least it's finished. The characters were so good in this game and something I love about this series, in particular, is that they don't act in accordance with some morality alignment system - you end up making tough character choices. Though not as tough as the first game IMO since the game's length was cut short. It has a system I wish more RPGs had: the rivalry/friendship system. SO COOL! Give this series a go if you can!“ Another player shares his mind, “Played and finished countless times on PS3. Probably won't finish again on PC. DA2 is, in, an obvious evolution of the DA:O combat system while also being a couple of steps backward. Animation-wise and interaction-wise, it is far more engaging in basic melee and ranged combat. When it comes to tactics, however, the severely reduced ability pool reduces playstyle and build potential in subsequent playthroughs. This game is not a button masher like people say it is. Try button mashing and see if you get through any of the engagements - you want. But it is still stale. On hard or sometimes even normal, the balancing of enemies can be a bit wack so you actually have to consider positioning and abilities, much like DA:O, but again, it is very very limited. In terms of level design, I imagine their horrendously short development time resulted in them overly repeating rooms and enemies. It severely cripples the pacing of this game when you're constantly revisiting old places 3 acts in a row. The only thing that keeps this game moving is its narrative and companions. Companions especially are all interesting but again, are sadly restricted to their specific subclass of damage or support. Even worse, their aesthetic is locked to story progression and cannot be customized with armor. When it comes to the dialogue wheel, I hate it. I absolutely abhor voiced protagonists and vague dialogue descriptions in RPGs like Dragon Age. Despite my absolute bias against it, it's not genuinely terrible in this game, just unwanted. While still fun and a recommended play, you will be disappointed in many aspects if you love DA: O. But if you're like me, you will still find this game to be a positive experience.“
