BioShock Infinite is a first-person action-adventure game that takes place in the fictional city of Columbia. The game follows former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt as he tries to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman who has been imprisoned in Columbia since childhood. Booker and Elizabeth form a powerful bond as they fight their way through the city, battling the forces of the tyrannical Songbird.
Horror fans will love the suspense and scare that BioShock Infinite delivers, while action-adventure fans will appreciate the game's thrilling combat and exploration. Survival fans will appreciate the game's challenging difficulty and need to carefully manage resources.
As you explore Columbia and battle the forces that seek to stop you, you'll come to learn that Elizabeth is far more than she appears to be. With her extraordinary abilities, she may be the key to unraveling the city's many secrets.
The City in the Sky – Leave the depths of Rapture to soar among the clouds of Columbia. A technological marvel, the flying city is a beautiful and vibrant world that holds a very dark secret.
Unlikely Mission – Set in 1912, hired gun Booker DeWitt must rescue a mysterious girl from the sky-city of Columbia or never leave it alive.
Whip, Zip, and Kill – Turn the city’s Sky-Lines into weaponized roller coasters as you zip through the flying city and dish out fatal hands-on punishment.
Tear Through Time – Open Tears in time and space to shape the battlefield and turn the tide in combat by pulling weapons, turrets, and other resources out of thin air.
Vigorous Powers – Throw explosive fireballs, shoot lightning, and release murders of crows as devastatingly powerful Vigors surge through your body to be unleashed against all that oppose you.
Custom Combat Experience – With deadly weapons in one hand, powerful Vigors in the other, and the ability to open Tears in time and space, fight your own way through the floating city of Columbia to rescue Elizabeth and reach freedom.
1999 Mode – Upon finishing BioShock Infinite, the player can unlock a game mode called “1999 Mode” that gives experienced players a taste of the kind of design and balance that hardcore gamers enjoyed back in the 20th century.
The player, who rated the game with the highest rank, shares his mind, “It still boggles my mind that this game was so poorly received on release. I can KINDA understand some fans being disappointed that this game is very much an action-adventure, in contrast to the franchise's horror survival roots, but the fans' insistence that this meant that the game was fundamentally BAD or BORING is ridiculous. Infinite is insanely fun, and in my humble opinion, is more fun than the first installment. Oh I enjoy Bio-shock 1 well enough, it's certainly revolutionary for the time, but I have had almost no inclination to pick it up again since finishing it the first time. Infinite on the other hand is incredibly addictive. The gun-play is satisfying, the build variety is surprisingly large for an FPS from 10 years ago (or even today) the vigors are honestly more creative and fun than the original plasmids, and the use of the sky-hook and tears adds a whole new dimension to combat. How this game was ever called TOO HARD also confuses me. Now I'm far from the type of person to say "git gud" or "skill issue" (I rarely play games on difficulties harder than normal) But this game is only actually hard when, well, you play it on the Hard and above difficulty! "the Handy Mans were too difficult!" WHAT?!?!? on the normal mode, they die in like 5-10 shots depending on your build! yes, the game is harder than Bio-Shock 1, but that game is honestly TOO easy. But the combat is just one facet of the experience. The steampunk/Art-Nouveau/Neo-Classical/turn-o-the-century aesthetics and architecture are to die for. I know that I'm supposed to hate this place but, like Rapture, I can't help but want to live in the flying towers of Columbia, and the game takes full advantage of the technology of the time to showcase the city in mesmerizing colors and lightning. Booker and Elizabeth's characters and chemistry also make for a superior game experience over the mute and lonely Jack. Their relationship grows heartwarming and their dialogue witty, without any of the eye roll-worthy garbage you hear in many modern movies and games when the writers want to sound "smart" or "relatable”. Bio-shock Infinite is quite possibly my favorite game, or at least my favorite story-driven shooter and I definitely think it will be worth your time, though obviously, you should play it AFTER having played at least Bio-shock 1 which usually comes with it in the "collection which always has amazing sales here on steam. Get the girl, and wipe away the debt!”
